MOAR!

January29

So you want to know MOAR huh? Perhaps you just want to know what “moar” is. It’s “more” spelled like “roar” so it sounds more MOAR.

What’s myntifresh? This strange little site off in the middle of webland? This is my blog. But I’ll be more specific. The best expertise I can provide is about art. So this is my art blog. I will babble and rant and rave and dissect and go on about art like nothing else.

Since you want more, Here’s more about me.

I have a tendency to ramble, but here I’ll try to be brief. Art is what I know best. I’ve been drawing seriously since 1996. I started off copying comics and drawing still lifes. I wasn’t much good.

Over time, I developed a sense of human anatomy. This was mostly through a total of 7 figure drawing classes throughout high school and my freshman year of college. During high school, I took the classes at Moore College of Art, and my first year of college I attended Tyler School of Art. Most of my first 10 years drawing and painting was fumbling around trying to find my voice and my story. Trying to figure how all the pieces fit together into one image. Trying to just get it to look “right”.

I went to film school sophomore year, greatly torn. I loved to paint, but it wasn’t a practical idea at the time. Neither was film, but I gave it a go. I learned a lot, and never looked at television, advertising, or films the same way. I taught myself more design stuff in these years, and started to take my first clients.

In 2006, I met Daniel Alekow. He has influenced me much in the past few years as an artist, but the most helpful thing he did was instruct me in landscapes. He did it in an easygoing way, by a little non-competitive speedpainting. We did many speedpaints together, and over time I really got a more natural feel for organic perspective, atmospheric effects, color, textures, and so on. My “Great Hike” was my first major landscape attempt of any great scale, and to me is a testament to my improvement the past few years.

Presently I do freelance design and art commissions. I also love to participate with my contemporary artists in the search to finding my own true self through my work, in promoting a message of environmental love and awareness (you will find elements of nature in nearly all my paintings) and promoting other artists to enjoy the learning journey that is practicing art.

I hope I’m really approachable. I like to critique and I think the web is as good a place as any to develop yourself as an artist. If you are aspiring to draw, and looking for help, the world is your classroom. Explore, share, motivate yourself and others, learn, and enjoy it. Express yourself!

If you seriously want to get better at drawing, you’re free to join my daily doodle sketchgroup. Check out more about it on my deviantART userpage.

Oh, here’s the daily doodle in my css:

I will update this page MOAR at a later time!
